The eviction was implemented on the directives of the Ruler of Sharjah.
Sharjah authorities have initiated immediate eviction of over 60 houses in Al Qadisiya district as the occupants were found to be bachelors while the area is strictly designated for families.
The eviction was implemented on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and in cooperation with Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWGA).
The matter was brought to the authorities’ notice after a woman, living in the area, spoke about it on Sharjah Live radio Program.
Immediately after the directive was issued, the utility services of the violating houses were disconnected, Dr Rashid Alleem, chairman of SEWGA, revealed.
While to monitor the eviction, inspection team headed by Thabit Salem Al Tarifi, director-general of Sharjah Municipality, Major-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, along with representatives of the SEWGA visited the Al Qadisiya area.
Moreover, Al Tarifi added that along with the eviction process, the municipality authorities will assess structural integrity of the housing units as well as uncover if any unit has illegally added partitions and divisions.
“The municipality has delivered the owners or direct tenants notices of review and their violation due to subcontracting housing rentals in violation of laws and regulations,” he said.
The campaign will continue until all houses occupied by bachelors are evicted.
