CAIRO – 11 October 2019: The Tunisian embassy in Cairo has received Tunisian citizens residing in Egypt on Friday to vote in the second round of the presidential elections, after Law professor Kais Saied and media mogul Nabil Karoui have come out on top of the first round presidential election.
In an interview with Egypt Today, Abdel Wahab al-Raisi, coordinator of Tunisia’s Independent High Electoral Commission in Egypt said the second round abroad extends for three days and ends on Sunday (Oct. 13), while the elections within Tunisia will be held on Sunday for one day only.
There are two polling stations in Egypt for the Tunisian elections in both Cairo and Alexandria, Raisi said, adding that the Cairo polling station has received the largest number of voters.
The Tunisian embassy had finished all preparations for the second round, and continues to receive voters over the three days allocated for voting abroad, starting From 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, according to local time of each country, in 49 countries.
Raisi called on the Tunisian community to participate in the second round of voting, noting that the turnout indicated high participation of women in the first round of the elections.
In the first round, Kais Saied gained 18.4 percent of the vote, followed by then-imprisoned Karoui who gained 15.6 percent of the votes, as announced by the Independent High Electoral Commision.
