The Hijri or Islamic New Year is predicted to fall about 31st August.
That’s dependent on a moon sighting and hasn’t yet been confirmed by the UAE government.
However, it could mean a long weekend at the end of August, as that date is a Saturday. In 2018 we enjoyed a Thursday off work and the religious occasion was also marked with a ‘dry night.’
Earlier this year, the UAE’s cabinet announced that private and public sector holidays would be aligned.
