The school will be working with international agencies.

A ‘digital school’ that will educate one million refugee students has been launched in Dubai.

In an announcement he tweeted today, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said this school — which will provide smart education — aims to reach 20,000 students this year.

“Our target is to educate one million students from disadvantaged groups within five years,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

The new school will be working with international agencies to get an approval for its curriculum.

Sheikh Mohammed pointed out that there’s currently an “education gap” in the Arab world. Millions of students have lost years of education because of conflicts and economic problems, he said.

“If no one acted to face these challenges, generations will come led by ignorance and extremism, instead of them leading their nations with the light of knowledge,” Sheikh Mohammed stressed.
