Sharing false information can land you in jail, warns UAE Public Prosecution – News

The authority posted a message on Twitter, outlining penalties for sharing false information with the intent of misleading justice.

Those who share false information to mislead justice will be penalised in a hefty manner, the Federal Public Prosecution has warned.

The authority posted a message on Twitter, outlining penalties for sharing false information with the intent of misleading justice.

“Whoever, with the intention of misleading justice, changes the conditions of persons, places or things, conceals evidence of the crime or submits false information in their respect, knowing that they are not true, shall be subject to a jail sentence, according to Article 266 of Federal Penal Code,” read the message.

The tweet is part of a social media campaign launched by the public prosecution to spread awareness among the public about the law.
