School bus catches fire in UAE, no injuries

The school bus was empty when the mishap took place.

The competent firefighters in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah have successfully managed to put out a big fire that erupted in a school bus here at Azan area.

The central operations room of Ras Al Khaimah Police was alerted of the inferno, dispatched traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics, rescue teams and firefighters to the reported site in record time.

Informed sources and eyewitnesses told Khaleej Times that the school bus was empty when the mishap took place.

“There were no students on the bus when it rammed into the wall of the Azan school at the end of the school day.” All the female students were already transported home before the accident and fire, they added.

“The Ras Al Khaimah firefighters cordoned off the entire area to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby properties.” Water and foam were used in putting out the fire and cooling down the partially damaged and burnt school bus, they disclosed.

“No human casualties were reported in the accident, while the fire file was referred to the bodies concerned for further investigations to identify the reasons behind.”

Informed sources with the ministry of education said the bus caught fire after the end of the school day. “The bus driver has apparently rammed into the wall of the Azan school, while everything was contained and put under control by the Ras Al Khaimah firefighters.”
