“Nora Tehlam” awarded Best Film Award at FIFIB

CAIRO – 22 October 2019: Tunisian film “Nora Tehlam” starring Hend Sabry won the Best Film Award at the Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival.

The artist Lotfi el-Abdali won a special mention from the festival’s judging panel, bringing the total number of awards won by the film to four awards. Sabry has won the Special Jury Award in the Women’s Leading Roles Department, which is titled Female Interpretation, in addition to the Best Actress Award at the 3rd Gouna International Film Festival for her role in the Tunisian film “Nora Tehlam”.

The film had impressed the fans of the San Sebastian International Festival in Spain, where it was watched by 1500 spectators in the cross-section on Oct. 20, and 750 spectators on Oct. 21, who showed great appraisal of the film by continuous applause.

The Spanish and international press, such as “Screen Daily”, highlighted Sabri’s performance of with articles that carried a lot of praise and appreciation for her acting skills portrayed in the role which resulted in a high degree of persuasion. The film’s first premiere was held during the Toronto International Film Festival. Nora Tehlam” is written and directed by Hind Bou Jomaa and produced by Imad Marzouk. It is starring Hend Sabry, Lotfi el-Abdali, Hakim Boumsoudi, Iman el-Sherif, Jamal Sassi and Saif Zarif.

The aspiring film revolves around Nora, a poor Tunisian girl. It sheds light on Nora’s daily suffering with the imprisonment of her husband and the harassment she is exposed to because of his criminal history. The film also portrays how her relationship with her children and husband changes after he gets released from prison.
