Department of Education and Knowledge told parents in a text message.

If children exhibit symptoms of fever, flu or respiratory illness, they need to be taken to a doctor and kept at home till they get better, Abu Dhabi’s education regulator has advised parents. This is just a precautionary measure, the authority said.

“In an effort to address your concerns with regards to the nCoV in the UAE, we would like to confirm that there have been no cases reported in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” the Department of Education and Knowledge told parents in a text message on Saturday.

The text message also directs parents to an online informational pamphlet provided by the Department of Health.

As Khaleej Times reported last week, some schools in the UAE are raising awareness about the coronavirus as a precaution, though they are stressing that parents should not panic as schools are completely safe.

As many as 259 people have died so far from the virus outbreak and the World Health Organisation has declared the epidemic an international emergency. In the UAE, a four-member family from Wuhan, China, was kept under quarantine after they were infected. They are said to be in a stable condition.
