The tanker was watering plants on the side of the road.
A 20-year-old Emirati man died on the spot after he rammed into a water tanker in Ras Al Khaimah’s Azan area.
Brigadier Ahmad Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, RAK Police, said they were alerted about the collision on Wednesday at 8.30am.
Traffic patrols, an ambulance, paramedics and rescue teams rushed to the scene, but found that the motorist had died.
“The initial enactment of the collision showed that the Emirati victim was driving on the road’s hard shoulder when he was surprised by a water tanker parked on the left side of the road for watering the roadside plants,” the brigadier said.
The driver tried to avoid collision with the tanker, but in vain, he added. “The victim could not make it and died on the spot because of the impact of the collision.”
The body of the deceased was shifted to the morgue of Saqr Hospital.
Brig Al Naqbi urged all drivers to remain attentive on the road, observe speed limits, and fully comply with traffic rules and regulations.
