Mob lynching: Tabrez’s cardiac arrest due to thrashing: Doc | India News

RANCHI: Days after Jharkhand police scaled down the charge against 13 accused in the Tabrez Ansari lynching case from murder to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, the head of the panel of doctors which analysed the victim’s post-mortem report and submitted its findings to state government told TOI that he suffered a cardiac arrest due to “thrashing, loss of blood and internal bleeding”.
Tabrez (22) was targeted by a mob on June 17 after he was suspected of being involved in a motorbike theft. In a viral video, the mob is seen hitting him repeatedly and asking him to chant “Jai Shri Ram”. Seraikela-Kharsawan district SP Karthik S had said on Tuesday that police converted the murder charge into culpable homicide not amounting to murder as the autopsy had concluded that Tabrez died of cardiac arrest.
However, Dr Lalan Choudhary, head of the five-member medical committee at MGM Hospital, Jamshedpur, which had submitted its report, emphasised that it was excessive bleeding due to injury that led to the cardiac arrest. “Our role is limited to establishing the fact that the cardiac arrest has a reason and, in this case, excessive bleeding due to injury resulted in cardiac arrest,” he told TOI.
The panel had said in its findings submitted on August 10: “We observe that there is a fracture on the right side of the fronto-perital bone of the skull, there is a sub-archnoid hemorrhage (2-3mm) on right side fronto-perital region of brain. All organs are pale, all chambers of the heart are filled with blood, no poison is found in FSL report.” “On the basis of main findings, we opine that the fracture of bone is a grievous injury caused by a hard and blunt object. The combined effect of the fracture of bone, pale organs and heart chambers (that were) full of blood resulted in a cardiac arrest,” it had said.
