Kuwait non-oil exports up 164 pct in Sept compared to same period in ’18

Iraq top Arab country importing Kuwaiti exports

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12, (KUNA): Kuwait’s non-oil exports went up 164 percent last September, compared to the same period in 2018, said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Saturday.

The total number for certificates of origin for Arab and foreign countries’ exports was about 1,413 certificates worth KD 15.7 million (about USD 51 million) in September, compared to 457 worth KD 5.9 million (USD 19.4 million) in 2018, the ministry said in a press release. Certificates of origin for Kuwaiti exports to Arab countries, excluding the GCC states, reached 345 certificates worth KD 6.3 million (USD 20.7 million), compared to 79 certificates worth KD 3.2 million (USD 10.5 million) for foreign countries. Certificates of origin for Kuwaiti exports to Gulf countries were 989 worth KD 6 million ($ 19.7), it added. Iraq was the top Arab country in importing Kuwaiti exports, followed by Jordan, Egypt, and Palestine.

Qatar came first in GCC states, followed by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Oman. As for foreign countries, Italy topped the list, followed by Belgium, Turkey, and Spain. Meanwhile, Kuwait oil price rose USD 2.63 to reach USD 61.68 per barrel in Friday’s trades against USD 59.05 a barrel on Thursday, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said on Saturday.
