Dawson City: Frozen Time

In 1978, in a frozen swimming pool in Dawson City, Canada, 533 nitrate films that were long since considered lost to the ages were unearthed by a construction crew. Settled in 1896 as the Canadian Gold Rush brought over 100,000 prospectors to Dawson, the city was the final stop in the distribution chain of films and newsreels, making this collection the perfect snapshot of the era. Culture vultures will enjoy unlocking this cinematic treasure trove in a special screening of Dawson City: Frozen Time by director Bill Morrison at Louvre Abu Dhabi. Free.
