Gang Leader’ releases this Friday and tells the tale of four women and a child seeking the help of a fraudulent, revenge novel writer to help them get justice against a powerful someone. The film will also see the debut of Kartikeya as an antagonist, after playing lead roles in ‘RX 100’ and ‘Hippie’. The film also stars Lakshmi, Saranya Povannan, Shriya Reddy and child artiste Pranya P Rao in lead roles, apart from Priyadarshi, Vennela Kishore, Anish Kuruvilla, Satya and more. While Nani’s fans and movie buffs bowled over by the trailers have enough reasons to watch the film, we give you five reasons why you should:
The fun story
How often do we seen the tale of four women of various ages and a girl child coming together to take revenge on someone who has done them great injustice? It’s also not common to see a protagonist like Pencil Parthasarthy, someone who rips off his revenge novels from famous Tollywood films and living in the notion that he’s famous for his work. Gang Leader sees these five motley crew approaching him to help them in their quest and that for sure makes for a fun ride.
Nani and Kartikeya
Nani was last seen in ‘Jersey’, the story of a middle-aged broken-hearted cricketer whose dreams are shattered due to circumstances but who vows to make a comeback despite his age. The actor has proven his mettle in numerous films through the years and his comic timings seems spot-on in this one. Kartikeya too made his mark with ‘RX 100’ even if ‘Hippie’ and ‘Guna 369’ failed to win hearts. His performance was still appreciated in all three films and it remains to be seen how he’ll handle his debut as an antagonist.
The superb cast
Apart from the duo, ‘Gang Leader’ also stars Lakshmi, Saranya Povannan, Shriya Reddy and child artiste Pranya P Rao as the motley crew seeking revenge, apart from actors like Priyadarshi, Vennela Kishore, Anish Kuruvilla, Satya and more. With a stupendous cast like this one, it’s only natural that expectations remain super high on this film. The promotional material so far too seems to indicate everyone sinking their teeth into their characters, which will surely be a delight to watch on-screen.
Vikram K Kumar’s direction
After stunning the audience since years with films like ‘Ishtam’, ‘13B’, ‘Ishq’, ‘Manam’ and ‘Hello’, Vikram K Kumar has bent genres for this one, making a comedy, revenge thriller that seems to have elements of family drama too. While the story of ‘Gang Leader’ is exciting enough what with four women and a child approaching a fraudulent writer, Vikram K Kumar’s directorial skills too will surely make this one worth a watch.
Anirudh’s beautiful music
After ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ and ‘Jersey’ Anirudh Ravichander has become a well-known name in the
Telugu film industry. Even if the former film failed miserably at the box office and the latter received nothing but love, Anirudh managed to make his mark both times with his music and BGM. With ‘Gang Leader’s songs already making a mark, it remains to be seen how the film’s BGM will stun.
