Five more rebel Karnataka Congress MLAs move SC | India News

NEW DELHI: Five rebel Congress MLAs on Saturday joined 10 other Congress-JD(S) legislators in moving the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Karnataka Assembly Speaker to accept their resignations, indicating that threat to the H D Kumaraswamy-led Karnataka coalition is intact.
The five MLAs are Anand Singh, K Sudhakar, N Nagaraju, Munirathna and Roshan Baig. While Singh claimed to have submitted his resignation on July 1, Munirathna did so on July 6 and the rest followed suit on July 10. Earlier the 10 rebel Congress MLAs, who claimed to have submitted their resignations to the Speaker on July 10, had moved the Supreme Court.
The fresh batch of MLAs said has no disqualification proceedings pending against them and the Speaker has no reason not to accept their resignations. The fresh application of five MLAs is likely to be taken up for hearing by the Supreme Court on Tuesday along with the petitions of the 10 other MLAs.
Hectic parleys to mollify rebel legislators
Coalition leaders on Saturday were locked in hectic parleys to pacify rebel MLAs, as BJP said it would press CM H D Kumaraswamy to seek the trust vote on Monday. Congress seemed to have made some headway in pacifying one of its MLAs, M T B Nagaraj, who hinted that he might consider withdrawing his resignation.
