The drive is also being carried out as part of the Sharjah Private Education Authority’s (SPEA) Healthy Schools programme.

Around 580 parents and academic staff in Sharjah recently attended a virtual workshop on maintaining safety in schools.

Th workshop was the first activity under the ‘Together We Return’ campaign, which was launched by the Health Promotion Department (HPD) in Sharjah’s Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA). While other campuses in the country welcomed back students earlier this week, schools in the emirate started the new academic year with online classes, which would continue for two weeks until September 10.

Iman Rashid Saif, director of HPD, said: “The UAE government is moving steadily towards the recovery from Covid-19 consequences and the gradual return to normal life in different sectors, placing the health and safety of people as a top priority.”

Saif said the campaign primarily aims to support national efforts to create a healthy environment for students. She called on residents to participate in the activities to stay informed of the precautionary steps that must be taken.

There will be 12 awareness programmes, along with videos and booklets that will be shared on the department’s social media pages. Awareness posters will also be distributed to schools and nurseries.

The drive is also being carried out as part of the Sharjah Private Education Authority’s (SPEA) Healthy Schools programme.

Participants learnt more about how communicable diseases can be prevented and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.

The HPD held another e-session on school bus safety and child care, where 85 residents and experts discussed how precautionary measures can be maintained in students’ transport.
