Ex-top cop appointed J&K guv’s adviser | India News

NEW DELHI: Retired IPS officer Farooq Khan, who has been serving as Lakshadweep administrator, was on Saturday appointed as adviser to Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik.
Khan is the fifth adviser to J&K governor to be appointed ever since the state came under governor’s rule followed by President’s rule.
Khan was instrumental in setting up J&K Police’s counter-insurgency unit or task force in the early 1990s. He retired as Inspector General of J&K Police in 2013. Khan joined the BJP in March 2014. Khan’s appointment comes ahead of expected assembly election in J&K.
