No entrance fee will be charged.
Cyclists may now bike around Mushrif Park from 6am to 9pm every day, the Dubai Municipality (DM) has announced. Special lanes and tracks were set up around the park and entry is free for all.
Cyclists must wear their helmets during the ride, the DM said. They should use only the cycling lane and refrain from taking their bicycles on pedestrian pathways.
All precautionary measures must be followed and, in the evening, the bike’s front and back lights should be switched on.
Opening Mushrif Park to cyclists comes as part of the emirate’s goal of turning Dubai into a bicycle-friendly city.
Earlier this month, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has directed the authorities to adopt global best practices to make the emirate’s infrastructure safer for bicycle riders.
It also supports the other goals of Dubai, which include bringing down traffic accident fatalities and reducing carbon dioxide emissions, Sheikh Hamdan said.
