Over the years, World Art Dubai has leveraged the art interest renaissance to house an international art community at DWTC.
In the last couple of months, people across the world turned to arts as a means of creative escape, and Dubai’s opening act for the event season promises to celebrate the spirit that bound the global art community.
World Art Dubai 2020, is set to open this Thursday at the World Trade Centre (DWTC), announcing the return of major events to the emirate with a series of family-friendly activations. It will run until Saturday, October 10.
Held under the theme ‘Free Your Mind’, the event’s sixth edition will be uniting the eager global art community, with a series of activities like live painting sessions, digital art experiences and expert workshops.
“Art has served as an escape for people all over the world this year. We will cultivate this energy and enthusiasm through this year’s theme, connecting international artists and stimulating creativity and exploration,” said Trixie LohMirmand, executive vice president, exhibitions and events management for the DWTC.
Over the years, World Art Dubai has leveraged the art interest renaissance to house an international art community at DWTC. This year, a wall will be dedicated to showing how the artists turned inwards for inspiration during the pandemic.
An inclusive art and lifestyle event
From photographers and fashion art disrupters to experimental expressionists and urban art practitioners, the event will wow the art aficionados – established and newcomers alike – over its three-day run.
One will witness an expansive collection of 2,000 curated artworks, created by some award-winning personalities as well as by emerging artists who will be making their debut at the fair.
A few names to look out for include Idriss B, the French-Tunisian sculptor, and Farah Malhas, whose art studio containing all her work was destroyed during the recent Beirut explosion.
Keeping it safe
The event will be held with stringent precautionary measures in place to ensure a safe, attendance-controlled environment.
As a visitor, you can enjoy a contactless experience as World Art Dubai has partnered with fynd.art, which will allow one to scan an art piece with a smartphone and read more information about the exhibited artwork, artists and galleries. Everyone is advised to register and purchase tickets online by visiting worldartdubai.com.
