‘Dream Girl’ box office prediction: Ayushmann Khurrana may gift himself his biggest hit till date | Hindi Movie News

With back-to-back hit films last year and the National Award for the Best Actor serving as the cherry on the top, there seems no stopping for Ayushamann Khurrana. The actor who is currently enjoying a dream run at the box office is all set to hit the screens again this year with his quirky comedy ‘Dream Girl‘ which is the Friday release of this week.

Ayushmann turns into a dream girl, for real! The film will see the actor beautifully transform into the skin of a woman, through his voice. The actor, who has time and again entertained us with his choice of roles, will play a character named Pooja who works in a female friendship call center. Ayushmann has himself dubbed his dialogues in the female voice.

The Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial also stars Nushrat Bharucha as the leading lady and sees Ayushmann reuniting with his ‘Vicky Donor’ co-star Annu Kapoor.

ETimes spoke to senior trade analyst Taran Adarsh to get an expert view about the prospects of the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer and how will ‘Dream Girl’ take the actor a notch above his current level

Ayushmann usually gets a good opening with multiplexes. Will ‘Dream Girl’ change that with single screens?

Even ‘Badhaai Ho’ opened well in single screens. It all depends on the genre of the film. In this genre, the story goes beyond the metro audience. The film will not only open well in multiplexes but also the single screens audiences will react very favourably to this film. Ayushmann has cultivated a very strong and loyal fanbase when it comes to content films. People know that when Ayushmann is there, he’s going to come up with very quality films.

Will the film gift Ayushamm Khurrana his biggest opening day?

I’m very hopeful. I think that it should open in double digits. The box office can be very unpredictable, let’s wait and watch. A bit too early to predict.

Can ‘Dream Girl’ be a bigger hit than Ayushmann’s ‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Andhadhun’?

If the audience sticks to the film, like ‘Badhaai Ho’ had the family audience with it and delivered an important message too with the film, ‘Dream Girl’ has all the chances and favourable factors that can gift Ayushmann his biggest hit till date. With a good stream of curiosity surrounding the trailer and the buzz related to the movie, the film has the mass appeal that can win over the audience.

Can ‘Dream Girl’ be the film of Ayushmann Khurrana that will take the actor to his next level in terms of box office numbers?

Definitely, you grow with every film. Numbers are important today, one can’t deny that. You really can’t say that the actor can only showcase his talent but not reflect well on the numbers. This is a very family film, the youth can go as well. It’s a very cooling film and there’s a message towards the end.

‘Chhichhore’ has been doing great at the box office. Do you think ‘Dream Girl’ can dominate over the film?

‘Chhichhore’ has been liked very well and people are loving the concept. It is going to have a long inning. The same goes for ‘Dream Girl’ and ‘Section 375’ as well. ‘Section 375’ may go ahead with word of mouth as it is not that big film.

‘Dream Girl’ also stars Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Bannerjee, Manjot Singh, Nidhi Bisht, Rajesh Sharma, Raj Bhansali among others.

The film is written and helmed by Raaj Shandilya who will be making his directorial debut. The film is produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, and Aashish Singh. ‘Dream Girl’ is all set to release tomorrow on September 13, 2019.
