Chinmayanand’s lawyer now counters clip with clip | India News

SHAHJAHANPUR: The 23-year-old law student who has levelled charges of sexual harassment against former Union minister Swami Chinmayanand was on Wednesday medically examined by a panel of government doctors at a hospital in Shahjahanpur, where she was brought by the special investigation team.
This came even as allegations were made on Wednesday — a day after a video purportedly showing Chinmayanand and the student in the middle of a massage session went viral — by Om Singh, the former minister’s lawyer, that the woman was trying to extort money from his client.
Singh was referring to a fresh video that has surfaced in which a group of men in a car, with a woman in the back, can be heard taking about an “extortion message” that went out. In the clip, a man slams the others for “foolishly sending” a message directly to a person who he described as a “very influential man”. No names are taken. It is not clear who they are talking about.
The woman denied the new allegations and said, “I had collected the evidence (of alleged wrongdoing in the form of a video) in April and never intended to extort money (from Chinmayanand) or share it.” She added, “People who supported me in escaping from Shahjahanpur may have attempted to misuse them. I have no idea about that.”
The woman also submitted an application to SIT head IG Naveen Arora complaining about “missing articles” from her hostel room. “Chinmayanand’s aides have deliberately tampered with the evidence and planted some obscene material to tarnish my image,” she said in the letter. Though details were not mentioned, sources said a memory card and a wallet were items she was referring to.
