Cabinet approves draft law to establish Global Academy in New Administrative Capital

CAIRO – 12 September 2019: The Cabinet has approved a draft law by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to establish Global Academy in the New Administrative Capital.

The institution aims to host a branch for the British University of Hertfordshire in Egypt. The university is a top public university in the United Kingdom located in Hatfield. The British University has a global network of more than 165,000 graduates.

The university branch seeks to contribute to developing the higher education system and scientific research in Egypt, in addition to enhancing ties between the institution and other universities in UK.

The initiative also aims to provide an international standard of education in Egypt, while maintaining Egyptian students’ national identities.

The university branch will include faculties of medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, business administration, engineering, computer science, humanities, health, social work and creative arts.

In May, Global Academy signed an agreement with the University of Hertfordshire in the presence of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, Deputy Minister of Higher Education for University Affairs Amr Adly, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Technical Affairs Mohamed el-Tayeb, and founders of the British university.
