Under the theme ‘With Education We Build Qatar’, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will launch today the first day of its annual Back to School campaign for the academic year 2019/2020.
The campaign will continue until August 24 in cooperation with Mall of Qatar, KidZania Doha, Qatar Unified Awareness Team, Your Health First from Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar, and in partnership with Karwa Transport Company.
The Back to School campaign will be held this year in Qatar Mall at the East Gate entrance (1) at the spot opposite Carrefour operating all weekdays from 3pm to 10pm, and on weekends until 11pm.
KidZania Doha, located behind Hyatt Plaza, will be available for the public from Monday (August 19) to Saturday (August 24) throughout the week from 3pm to 10pm.
Hassan Abdullah Al Mohammadi, Director of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry of Education, has welcomed the cooperation of all parties taking part in the campaign along the Ministry of Education, which is the basis for the success of this year’s Back to School campaign.
During campaign, all parties will contribute with valuable services needed by all members of the community and schools to promote constructive concepts, whether in education or fun or health or strength or in security and safety.
Abdulwahed Ghareeb Al Enezi, Founder of the Qatar Unified Awareness Team, said: “The team is participating in the campaign with program and honorary members of the team who are going to share their experiences with the students at the corner designated for the team in Mall of Qatar.
He added that the team will also screen short awareness films aiming at providing guidance and useful ideas for parents and students addressing some negative issues and they will also be published on social networking sites.
Al Enezi pointed out that an awareness booklet has been prepared in its second edition, which includes many tips in a number of fields for the benefit of parents, students and teachers with support form the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
“We are delighted that the campaign of Your Health First is participating again in the annual Back to School campaign as our initiative has been widely echoed among school students,” said Nisreen Al Rifai, Chief Communications Officer, Weill Cornell Medical Qatar.
“We are proud that the Ministry is one of the strategic partners of the campaign. By supporting this campaign, we aim to educate young people about the importance of healthy and sustainable lifestyles to prevent health problems associated with chronic diseases,” she stressed.
Khaled Kafoud, Director of Media and Government Relations at Mawasalat Company (Karwa) thanked the Ministry of Education for the opportunity to participate in the ‘Back to School’ campaign and interact with children, students, parents and the public, to encourage using of public transport.
Mowasalat is one of the main companies involved in providing transports to schools in Qatar, assuring international safety standards.
During the event, Kafoud stressed the keenness of Mawasalat Company to explain the security and safety issues to students saying it will distribute leaflets to educate students and the public when they move to and from the school campus. “This includes safety rules and security outside and inside the bus from the time of boarding the bus to the time of arrival at home,” he added.
He said: “Mowasalat is preparing for the new academic year 2019-2020 to meet the operational requirements and confirm the readiness of its buses by conducting full periodic check-ups and training drivers on security and safety developments through periodic training workshops to ensure the safety and comfort of students.’’
