An Egyptian girl’s brave gesture of staying back in China amid the coronavirus outbreak is winning hearts online.

According to reports in the Arabic press, an Egyptian girl, identified as Basma Mustafa, has chosen to stay in China as she is afraid of infecting her family with the deadly coronavirus – if she returns home.

In a post on facebook, Mustafa said that many reasons influenced her decision to stay in China, lauding the country for the work it was doing to prevent the virus spread, including the construction of hospitals – in mere days – and taking necessary procedures to stop the virus.

According to Emarat Al Youm, she showed faith in China’s long experience in dealing with different types of viruses, and it will find a cure for the novel coronavirus as well.

“I’ve been living in this country for long time, and I am loyalty towards it. I respect anyone’s decision to leave China right now, but I feel it’s my duty towards my second country to stay, especially if I am susceptible to infection. I will be treated equally like any other Chinese and maybe even better because I am a foreigner (in their land).” Basma added.

As countries make emergency evacuations from Wuhan and China, the young girl’s decision to stay in the country and avoid the possible spread of the disease in Egypt is being commended online, with netizens praying for her safety.

As of Saturday, 304 people have died in China from nCoV. Philippines reported the first death outside China today.
