965 fake bags, auto spare parts seized in UAE – News

The counterfeit items were later destroyed as per rules and regulations.

The Department of Economic Development in Umm Al Quwain have managed to seize over 965 counterfeited bags and auto spare parts, illegally stored at a warehouse in the Umm Al Thaub industrial area.

Informed sources alerted inspectors of the department about the duplicate items and its location in the warehouse.

“The counterfeit bags included 600 women handbags of famous international brands, along with 55 women handbags of different sizes,” the sources said.

The inspectors also found 10 cartons of auto spare parts and accessories of international brands, they added.

“Some of these were of Mercedes Benz and Toyota.”

Alerted about the commercial fraud, the Customer Protection Section inspectors formed a team to verify the tip-off.

“The staff inspectors stormed the reported warehouse, and seized the fake items.”

“These items were later destroyed as per rules and regulations.”

More inspection campaigns are to be deployed to clump down such attempts to mislead and con the customers, they pledged.

“All departments in the emirate spare no effort to protect customer rights and the image of the emirate as a protector of brand owner and intellectual property rights.”
