Advisory issued for residents and motorists.

As per the weather forecast for Sunday, heavy rain continued to lash UAE since late last night and into the morning. Authorities warned residents and motorists to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary trips outside and even using the mobile phone out in the rain.

The national Met department issued a dust storm warning along with a high waves warning, which is expected to last till 8:00pm tonight.

The waves are expected to be as high as 9 feet.

Motorists are advised to avoid valleys and roads that are prone to flooding, taking photographs while driving and abiding by the 80kmph speed limit – prescribed by the police during unstable weather.

Residents are advised to avoid the shore and going into the sea.

In a statement today, NCM said the winds are likely to cause rough sea and blowing dust as well as sand over the inland, reducing horizontal visibility at times over some of northern and eastern areas extending to the western coasts and islands from 11:00pm Saturday till 8:00pm Sunday.
