8th Mediterranean Tourism Forum to kick off in Alexandria on Saturday

ALEXANDRIA, July 12 (MENA) – The Association of Chamber of Commerce of the Mediterranean (ASCAME), in cooperation with the German-Arabian Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Alexandria, is organizing MEDITOUR 2019, the 8th Mediterranean Tourism Forum on Saturday and Sunday in Alexandria city.

The event takes place under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism Rania el-Mashat.

The Mediterranean hosting 32% of international arrivals and receiving 30% of revenue, is the most important tourist region in the world.

Experts predict 420 million tourists in the Mediterranean region in 2020 due to excellent natural conditions and a well-developed tourism infrastructure.

In order to secure this potential and to be able to use it for sustainable development in the future, the most urgent issues such as Digital Tourism Marketing and Sustainable and Green Tourism must be tackled.

MEDITOUR 2019 is hosting tourism experts on these topics to highlight the latest trends and provide interactive exchange opportunities to the participants.

MEDITOUR 2019 is targeting tourism agencies, tour operators, governmental and private tourism stakeholders from the Northern and Southern Mediterranean, as well as provider of digital solutions, green tourism labels and much more.

The conference is organized in the frame of the EU-funded EBSOMED project, a four-year project of the MedAlliance consortium, coordinated by BUSINESSMED (Union of Entrepreneurial Associations in the Mediterranean) as part of a consortium of six partners.

EBSOMED aims to stimulate the business ecosystem in the Mediterranean and to promote inclusive economic development in developing countries. In addition, investment and job creation in developing countries should be promoted by strengthening enterprise support organizations.
