2nd batch of Egyptian doctors train in London on family medicine

CAIRO – 13 July 2019: The second batch of doctors to specialize in family medicine departed to London on Saturday to receive training. Much like the first batch trained in April, the delegation comprises 35 members who will return in a week.

Candidates will be introduced to the universal health insurance system, mechanization, medical referral, and fundamentals of family medicine. After their return, instructors from the United Kingdom will come to Egypt to train medical staff at hospitals as indicated in the protocol signed with the British side. The total number of doctors who will receive training in London is 300.

The pilot stage of the universal health insurance system, under which the family medicine mechanism will be applied, was launched in Port Said on July 1. It includes 11 general and specialized hospitals and 32 healthcare units.

New health insurance system offers high-quality medical services: Health Ministry

CAIRO, July 1 (MENA) – Egypt’s new comprehensive healthcare insurance system guarantees offering high-quality medical services to all segments of the society without any discrimination, the Health Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Governor of Port Said Adel al-Ghadban told the press that medical staff at the governorate’s hospitals and health units are being trained by Japanese and Indian doctors. The governor added that the doctors of the first batch that went to London have already started working at the governorate’s medical facilities as well.

Ghadban added that the number of the governorate’s residents that got registered in the system in two weeks since the launch of the system has recorded 60,000.
